Very cute place, not very large, may be 15 two-person tables. It appeared that the owner was serving the tables and his wife was the chef. The atmosphere was pleasant and friendly, even if the service was on a slow side, considering there was only one person in the kitchen. Also, it is about the same in most of France, dinner is a no-rush affair.
Before we began our meal we were offered a complementary appetizer of a couple of olives, a tiny toast with a bit of crab salad & very cute little thimbles filled with soup that tasted similar to split soup with a bit of greens. It was a cold and rainy day, so we were happy to see Soups on the menu. They offer two Potages: La bisque de homard flambee (Lobster bisque and they did set it on fire with some strong and flavorful liquor), it tasted very good if a little fishy, and La soupe a l’oigon maison (French Onion Soup, probably the best I ever had), it was made as a blended soup rather then pieces of onion floating in the broth. I could taste potato and onion and some spices. The texture was wonderful and the taste amazing. There was a toast floating at the top covered with cheese. In reality, the portion was large enough where it could have been a meal in itself. Plus, they served a basket of bread and butter.
Still we wanted to try more dishes and trying to keep it light, ordered a Mimosa salad, that had greens, tomatoes, egg slices and two deviled eggs, stuffed with some mixture of mushrooms and mayo and something else, and white asparagus. Also, we got a Filet pur bouf, which was a nice size filet, perfectly grilled served with salad and a choice of potato, we asked for Pomme de Terre natural, which was a baked potato. The meat was tender and at the owner’s suggestion we also got Archiduc Sauce, which were wonderful mushrooms in cream souse. The food was very tasty and service great, we rolled out of the restaurant full and happy. There was no room left for desert….
