Physiotherapists in Belgium
If you have physical complaints, for instance in the muscular system, a general practitioner or orthopedist will refer you to a physiotherapist or physical therapist who is approved by the RIZIV. Physiotherapists have been educated at a higher vocational education institution or a university. They make you do your physiological exercises to improve your physical strength. Physiotherapists have a private practice or work in a medical center, rehabilitation center, rest home or sports clubs. Part of the costs are reimbursed by the mutuality. In Physiotherapy, there are several specializations, such as manual, respiratory, perinatal, psychomotor, cardiac and geriatric physiotherapy. Furthermore, you can go to a physiotherapist for a lymphatic drainage, sports physiotherapy, electrotherapy, relaxation and training for your back and neck.
