Education in Belgium

In Belgium, education is regulated by the Ministry of Education and Training of the communities. Educational establishments are financed and subsidized by the communities. The Ministry supplies recognized diplomas or certificates. Classical education is divided into different levels: primary education that consists of kindergarten and primary education, secondary education, higher vocational education and higher education consist of colleges and universities and part-time art education. Adult education offers different education options to people aged 28 and over, besides the initial education path. Each school is connected to a PMS center. Here, pupils are assisted with their learning difficulties, psychological and medical problems and their study counseling. A number of schools and comprehensive schools have a boarding school for pupils who cannot go home. Besides this, there are private schools, maritime schools and associations, which offer training courses, such as language courses, home study tuition, vocational training, entrepreneurial training courses and other courses.

Belgium has a historical and cultural history to be proud of. Its numerous museums, cultural organizations, theaters and concert halls will certainly enthrall culture lovers. The Ministry has a number of centers or organizations which offer support to certain cultural people and associations. For instance, entertainers and artists, such as theater groups, writers, sculptors, orchestras and painters receive help in practical matters, development and image-building, and communication.

Besides the public television and radio broadcasting companies, Belgium also has commercial broadcasting companies and local radio stations. Broadcasting companies and newspapers, magazines and periodicals publishers alike inform us from all corners of the world. In addition, each municipality or city has its own extensive library, which is more than just for lending books these days.
