Dentists in Belgium
If you have toothache or problems with the surrounding gums, you go to a dentist. All dentists in Belgium have had a six-year university education in dental care and must be recognized by the RIZIV. After their studies, dentists can also specialize in dental surgery or orthodontic service. For this specialization, both a GP and dentist degree is required. For specialized procedures, there are dental clinics where you are cared for by an orthodontist or paradontologist/a>. Usually, dental care is partially reimbursed by an authorized mutuality. Cosmetic dentistry such as bleaching teeth is not reimbursed. For urgent dental problems during weekends and public holidays, you will have to see a dentist who is on call.
